Daily notes

Henceforth I'll be frequenter to blog, daily. Thanks to Fled thoughts, i figured out how casual & short a blog can be. I think this time no stopping.

I see coupla years down the line how famous these posts will be. That makes me excited, makes me challenge myself to be my best at every page of this.

It's amazing how the life uncovers itself when we come to learn new & excited things, and we grow more intense with sudden discoveries/realizations.

Thanks to the blogs I have been subscribed to, I learnt many things about internet marketing & personal branding, and many more things. life will never be the same again.

Right now I am reading book"Virtual Handshake" by Tenet & Allen, it just helps you so much onlne , you just can't help but recommending to many of your friends. The best part is it's available for free download.

Thanks to my prospective readers, I'm taking leaving, as I have cold & a lot of official stuff yet to be done.

Games I played

We play so many games since child hood. In this post we will just have a recap of the games both indoor and out door we played, and to what extent we had really enjoyed then! And now when we see backwards, do we really feel that's all really funny or stupid? We just go through those experience once again. Perhaps we can use the information, to create better games as legacy for our next generation. Probably no one thought like this before!

The first game I can remember is this big chart with snakes & ladders. Yes we call it Snakes n Ladders. It was full of mystery, was looking so weird, yet so-common place the game is. Perhaps the first ever incidence that makes us/ humans to feel small or helpless, by throwing dice. the happier you feel when you climb up the ladder, the worse you feel when snake swallows you, and you fall below through its tail, though not physically hurt, but deeply hurt all other ways. It was an experience for players, and humor, or good time pass for onlookers. Somehow i never really liked the game. If you can't strive to win, or if there's no other way to make a win, then what we are doing is wasting time. Definitely no fun. Again these kind mob mentality that makes you feel it's a great & a has-to-be played.

After that I played marble balls. on dirty roads, public places, or in school . Mostly with my brothers. Elders never used to encouraged, so in this game, may be because we are being unclean by playing with bear hands. But they never tell you why they do not want you to do that. Elders used to think their kids just have to obey, but never to clarify or try to even with kids. Despite all this this game helps as we have to really focus on the game to succeed, and to be able to control/ manage to get the marble ball in right place. It does n't happen just like that.We as kids used to do a lot of things just not to fall in the eyes of elders/ school teachers while playing.

I think next to that we used to play a lot :Carroms (Is it the right spelling, it's funny you talk all the time, but when you start writing, it feels like you are writing some strange word.) Lunch time used be dragged to the evenings, or we used to skip it, when we were playing at friends' house.Palms used to become full of chalk most of the day. Most of summer holidays of my elementary & high schools were spent at Carroms table.

And then next comes to my mind 7-plates/sheets. I forgot the game as well as what we call it.
But we really enjoyed very much most of the summer days in bright sunlight. Looking back, now I wonder how indifferent we used to be towards hot weather. We used to play on the street roads, narrow gullies. Perhaps for the first time realized team spirit, as it needs a team together to play on sides. When the ball used to go somewhere inside unfriendly neighbors' residences, it was a lot of fun. Also I used to apply different ploys to get somebody else to bring the ball, even if I did the unnecessary long throw. I think we used to play this during summer holidays time.

Majorly it was directionless childhood, without much options. When everybody was playing cricket & khokho I followed the suit. I was a bit short for my age, so I used to have that feeling all day with me. When some body said, if you play khokho, you will remain short & never grow tall, that's the end of khokho. Even he showed all veteran school players of khokho who are really too short, to prove his point, though i did n't much evidence.

I focused on Cricket, somehow felt like it's a neat game & i could do very well esp at bowling. Ever ball almost used to take a wicket, I was proud at the newly found ability I have. We did n't have TV then, so I did n't know that game was so popular already. We used to play as soon as our high school classes were through. Then with one of my friend, during lunch hour went to nearby bar to watch cricket. When everyone was excited about the match, i was attracted by attracting smell of Biryani, it was so good. I used to be excited whenever kapil dav comes on TV, even on Boost ad, though I never watched real match on TV , nor I know what it was really all about. One day, one of our seniors died, being hit by cork ball, while playign cricket. I quit Cricket, for the fear of being hit by ball. All this happened, what I notice is nobody encouraged me, nor discouraged me. I did / did n't do, because of my feelings, or of my indifference.

After joining Engg, the newest found craziness for me is table tennis. Myself & my friend used to do night-outs playing or sometimes waiting for our chance to occupy the table. It went on for a few months. Always on borrowed rackets only, never was able to afford the kits that are needed to play on our own.

I end my blog here, as I myself am not really sure why I am writing such an insipid essay. But when I look back & think, in what way the games i played helped me in the long run is unfounded. Perhaps in all games I played as amateur, never really tried to go beyond that. I can cite no of reasons for my indifference, but what is clear is unless you aim to progress & try really hard in that, big or small, you can't enjoy much, can't go far, except as time pass material.

Fortunately we can change despite our pasts. Once you realize the real fun, you embrace it, and you really start living and enjoy your life. If you missed to make first impression, no problem, but strive to make a lasting impression.

Increasing chances

Yesterday I was reading some blog on Net, suddenly I remembered there will be investors' meet in Fapsi, Redhills. The special is Ramesh Damani will give some funda on investing.

I went to attend the meet.In a maze of traffick and a lot of one-ways, commuting is just a much dreaded thing in Hyderabad.

I was surprised to see a lot (probably 80%) of old people were there in the auditorium. What these all old ie 40+ & 50 and beyond are doing a lot of investing? What all their younger guys are doing?

When Ramesh Damani stood up to speak, auditorium was electrified.his talk was smooth, and full of wit & common sense.

The way he explained the power of compounding, it was like great eye opener. He said to invest in stoks poor IQ guy fares better that high IQ guys.

He advises:
  • To start investing early

  • To buy cheap

  • To have a lots of patience

According to him investing is not for someone who wants to have fun/excitement, but if you have patience you can make somuch. He has explained about power of compounding, man!, I was shocked with revelation. first time I realized what I have been ignorant all along, as that alone could have changed a lot for the better.

Past is gone, at least now, Thanks to Damani, I learnt the most invaluable lesson. First time in the evening I started feeling good having attended the investors' meet.

He said some 3rd class maths + common sense can make unbeatable combination at investing in stocks. As always I believed. But then I started to wonder :If it's so easy, why people, probably over 95%, often try to put the wrong foot & worsen the matters. Is it that most people just don't think, but superficially? Is it that only 1-2% people are really thinking , and every body else are just carrying other thoughts, as their thoughts. they even mocking somebody who they felt is not thinking.

When Mr Damani asked who will consider himself rich if he had Rs 1 Crore, out of 3-4 hundred only 2-3 hands went up. So I thought everybody must be thinking BIG, like me.When asked with Rs 5 crore, who are all consider themselves rich, I thought I can't be satisfied by that small a sum, but to my surprise not many hands went up. Mr Damani had to ask people to be realistic.

Well that's the catch! If somebody really thinks, he thinks better and better. People are swayed by emotions, rather than logic/commonsense. His thinking brain is in a stage equivalent to obsolete, because of no usage.

Commonsense is uncommon. People are not proactive, they just react, or sometimes they don't bother to react as well. It's easy to follow, as long as somebody they see infront of them, rather than thinking on their feet & following their thinking. It's risky, for them, unless it's following some standard that already exists. It's like being a parasite, in passive/senile state.

Well, I no longer feel sorry for some guys who are losing in life, it's their own making, as in investing in stocks. Everywhere it's the same, if you do your homework thoroughly, your chances are making it are high. Well that's all one needs.

Increasing Chances.
